Self-help Groups

The aim of Anxiety Alliance is that of self-help. Anxiety Alliance helps sufferers identify their problem and then enables them to take steps to rectify it via either our telephone self-help groups, or our on-line self-help groups in the following ways.

  • Identifying the problem
  • Requesting a definite commitment from the sufferer to make the necessary changes.
  • Helping the sufferer to keep a record of the severity and frequency of the problem.
  • Setting realistic targets and steps towards them.
  • Explaing the slef-help method most likely to work for each individual.
  • Assessing the progress made.
  • Assessing any problems in the sufferer being unable to reach a specific target.
  • Explaining how progress can be maintained.

Anxiety Alliance knows, that through persistent hard work, change can and will occur and we can help with showing the way to recovery, but it is entirely up to the sufferer to commit to change.

The charges for both the telephone and on-line groups is £30.00 for Members and £40.00 for Non-Members. A relaxation tape and course notes will be supplied.

The course lasts for one hour, one night a week for eight week. There will be a trained leader for your course, and you will be with other people who suffer similar symptoms to your own, so you will not be alone in your recovery. A follow-up course will be available for those who require it. You will not be left on your own after the course is completed, we will be here to continue to help, advise and support you.

The course work will be sent to you upon receipt of the completed application form and a cheque to cover the cost of the course, made out to Anxiety Alliance and sent to the Registered Address. The telephone charges for the course will be local rate for the London area and national rate for those outside the London area.

For those who require an on-line self-help group, a chat room will be set up specifically for you. The web address, together with the course work will be sent to you upon receipt of the completed application form and cheque.

If you would like to join either of our groups, please complete the application form below.
